Universal 215

The Universal 215 is an important movement because it was one of the first movements with a micro-rotor and because it was the movement in the iconic Polerouter watch. The movement has indirect minutes and indirect central seconds so that there is no centre wheel competing for space with the micro-rotor.

Micro-rotor removed

Underneath the micro-rotor, there is a rocker system with two wheels. Depending on the direction of rotation of the rotor, one or the other of the two rocker wheels will drive the next intermediary wheel, ensuring that the latter always turns in the same direction.

There is a double ratchet wheel – the barrel bridge has been removed

On top of the mainspring barrel, there are multiple wheels as one connects with the automatic system, while the other connects to the crown wheel placed underneath the barrel bridge.

Gear train

The pinion visible at the centre is for the seconds and it passes through the cannon pinion.

On the picture above, you can see at the centre the small pinion for the seconds, then underneath the bridge the pinion for the minutes driven by an intermediary wheel.
