The most interesting feature of this marine chronometre is its detent escapement. As watch movements with this escapement are usually very expensive, I was happy to find this one at a reasonable price. The reason the price was reasonable is that it was rusty and had gone through a fire. I looked forward to the challenge of cleaning it up. Unfortunately, the limits of my tools and abilities meant that a few things went wrong. At the end, the movement was almost rust-free, but was heavily scratched and the detent escapement was broken. Please keep in mind that given its initial state, restoring this movement would have meant re-creating all its gears and pivots.
